Working with Dori was wonderful, she was very accommodating and easy to work with! Being easy to talk with and very receptive, she knew exactly what look I wanted and it ended up turning out perfect, so I didn’t have to worry about anything the day of my wedding. The makeup looked great from start to finish after the long day and I couldn’t have been happier choosing her to do my makeup!
Dori did the bride and bridal party makeup for my sister’s wedding this past weekend and also did my makeup for my bridal shower previously. Simply put, I can’t say enough good things about Dori. She is extremely reliable, professional, and unbelievably talented. She is also very personable and friendly, and will immediately make you feel comfortable. My sister has extremely (and I do mean extremely) fair skin, and Dori went above and beyond to locate the perfect shade to match her skin tone, which was no easy feat. I will also mention that my sister had had a bad eyebrow wax the day before her wedding and the salon had accidentally removed a ton of skin from below her eyebrow, leaving about an inch and a half long and a quarter inch wide strip of raw, pink skin. Dori covered the whole thing up —- literally, you could not tell that anything had happened. I have absolutely no idea how she managed to accomplish this — it was amazing. My sister looked and felt so absolutely stunning on her big day, as did the rest of the bridal party.I had gone with a very natural look for my bridal shower which turned out so beautifully. I wanted to go more dramatic for my sister’s wedding and Dori did such an amazing job. I went with the airbrush makeup, and she made my uneven skin tone look flawless, managed to cover up all of my skin imperfections (mild rosacea, some age spots, and some pimples), and gave me the most gorgeous, dramatic eyes. I could not have been happier with this makeup!! I received so many compliments all day, and the makeup stayed put all day and all night, even through a night of dancing. My face looked the same both right after I got my makeup done at 11:00 am Saturday until I took it off at around 2:00 am Sunday morning. Also, while getting my makeup done I was chatting with Dori about all the different lines of makeup and new products. It is very clear that she is on the cutting edge of what is new and upcoming in terms of skincare and makeup, and I was really impressed. She clearly knows the trade very well. Bottom line: two enthusiastic thumbs up for Dori Mae Makeup. I will continue to recommend Dori to all of my friends and family.
Dori is an amazing bridal make-up artist. From the moment I spoke to her, to my trial in June, to my wedding on Saturday, she has been priceless. She has given me advice on products and contouring techniques and has been beyond accommodating. On Saturday, She used airbrush makeup and lashes on myself, 3 bridesmaids, and my mom (who never wears makeup but after seeing everyone else she wanted “the works”!). Everyone looked so natural and absolutely beautiful. I was so glam and she really achieved a sultry look without the caked on makeup look. I wasn’t worried about streaking, fading, or dulling. In fact, my lashes stayed on for 3 days! I would call her for any event I needed some professional help with, as she works magic. Beyond her talent, she is just a sweet, helpful, and down to earth woman. She made everyone feel special and tailored her technique and conversation to ages 5-65. Thank you for making us all feel so special and making me feel like an absolute princess. I wish you all the best in luck in the future!!!
Loved, loved, loved Dori. She was such a treat to work with. Not only is she talented, but she made the whole process fun and easy. I first met Dori at my makeup trial, and like many brides, expressed my concern of looking “too done up”. She walked me through all the steps, made sure I was comfortable, and made me look gorgeous (an enhanced Stephanie if you will). All of my bridesmaids loved their makeup the day of the wedding as well. To top it off, Dori went above and beyond the week before the wedding answering emergency pimple questions and providing other skin advice etc. Dori is a gem. If you’re looking for a talented, fun to work with makeup artist look no further.
Dori Mae made me up two days in a row for my wedding weekend. I loved seeing her work in pictures but wondered what she would come up with for me – I rarely do more than throw on my Bare Escentuals foundation and maybe a quick eye shadow application. Her work looked so glamorous! At my trial I witnessed how versatile and understanding she is as an artist. She came up with a look that was so “me,” bringing out my best features. The makeup lasted from the morning all the way through a Blackhawks game that night (that was the best I’ll ever look at the United Center!). Once the wedding came along I was confident she’d make me look my best, and she rocked it! Not only is she amazing at what she does, she is also a pleasure to have around. I cannot stress how important that is on the big day (or days, in my case). You want people around you that are excited, understanding and fun. Dori is all these things and more! I highly recommend using Dori Mae for any special event, photoshoot, or just because you want to feel amazing.
I used Dori for my wedding on 3/17/2012. She did an amazing job on both myself and all of my bridesmaids. Everyone looked awesome! Dori’s attitude was perfect, laid back but organized. She fit in with all of us and was fun to have around that morning. I highly recommend Dori because she is reliable, professional and great at doing make up.
Doris and I used to work in the same building – and I can tell you that THIS is what she is meant to do, not that other thing. When she first told me about her blossoming business and offered a trial run, I thought, what the heck. Well, she listened to me very carefully, and came armed with lots of suggestions and the right colors. She did a wonderful job on the trial and I was hooked. I hired her to do my makeup, my mother’s and my grandmother’s on the day of my big event. My best friend/matron of honor (and only attendant) is staunchly against having anyone else do her makeup. Well, the day of the event she saw my mom’s and grandma’s makeup and said – “Is there still time to do mine?” Dori did it, and mine and there was still plenty of time for photos before the ceremony. My BFF looked fabulous and she knew it. Dori is a super professional artist, and she is also very talented. You will not go wrong with her.
